Dr Ferdinando is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has extensive experience in supporting children, young people, and families with complex mental health needs. She adopts an integrative, personalised, and family-centred approach, aiming to empower children and their caregivers to achieve optimal mental health outcomes.
Dr Ferdinando is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and has over two decades of experience working in the NHS, including nearly 15 years as a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry—a role she continues to hold. She completed her specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the South West London & St George’s Specialist Training Scheme and was awarded a Master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from King’s College London, encompassing both clinical and research components.
Currently, Dr Ferdinando provides clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary community mental health team within the state sector, supporting children and young people with highly complex presentations. She has specialist expertise in neurodevelopmental assessments and the assessment and management of emotional and behavioural disorders in children and adolescents.
In her clinical work, Dr Ferdinando is committed to providing evidence-based care while also recognising the importance of a holistic, whole-child approach. She works closely with children and families to understand what matters most to them, and where appropriate, considers factors such as nutrition, sleep, exercise, and environmental influences. Dr Ferdinando understands how difficult it can be for families to access timely mental health support, particularly in the context of long waiting times and increasing thresholds for services. She has therefore been closely involved with the Child Mental Health Clinic for many years, playing a key role in ensuring that children and families receive compassionate, high-quality support when they need it most.
